I mean let’s face it, I’m head over high heels in love with ALL of Stop Staring’s dresses.
Stop Staring is one of those brands that I know works fantastically well on my figure. The way they spotlight my curves never fails to make me feel like a bombshell. Every new season, I get giddy cruising their latest catalogue. When I saw the Alana dress in the Spring/Summer edition, it was one of those I’ve-gotta-have-it fashion moments.
Like every Stop Staring dress I’ve ever worn, the Alana fits like a dream. The fabric hugs and defines your curves. It skims over wobbly bits and features strategic ruching, making this dress ideal if you’re conscious of your tummy or thighs. I’m 5’5″ and the skirt falls just below my knee, which is my most flattering length – ladylike but still seductive. The fabric is so supportive that in these photos I’m not wearing any shapewear or even a bra and my silhouette is still smooth and sculpted. You totally can wear a strapless bra under this dress though if it makes you feel more comfortable. Just make sure you choose one that’s low cut at the front.
Vital Information About Sizing
Pinups, pay attention. The fabric on the Alana is not as stretchy as most other Stop Staring dresses I’ve worn. I often get a way with a size Large in this brand and I’m a UK12-14. But, following the advice of the Top Vintage product description, I sized up to an XL for this particular frock and I’m so glad I did. The fabric is nowhere near as stretchy as most Stop Staring dresses. So if you’re not sure which size to get, I’d definitely err on the side of caution over vanity
If you really want to cinch in your waist you can add a belt like I have. But due to the sturdy, structured fabric you still get a lovely hourglass silhouette without one. You can wear the Alana on its own for a 1950s screen siren look or dress it down for daytime with a coordinating cropped cardigan. I’ve gone for a white one here but I’ve got my heavily mascaraed eye on the lookout for a pale yellow cardi as I think that would really compliment this dress.
It’s All In The Details
I love the warm, summery, salmon pink colour of this dress and the digital floral print makes me so happy. A sweetheart neckline and pleated wrap-bust, along with the playful triple-strand-spaghetti-straps, create a beautifully glamorous décolletage.
I love the unabashed femininity of this 1950s-inspired frock. It’s pink, it’s floral, it’s hourglassy and it makes me feel pretty, sexy and stylish all at the same time. Stop Staring dresses are pricey, but I consider them investment pieces. They shape and flatter your figure like no other dresses I’ve worn (and believe me, I’ve worn A LOT of dresses). I have Stop Staring dresses I bought years ago and I continue to wear them regularly because I still love them as much as when I first got them and they still make me feel gorgeous. The Alana is no exception. I blooming love it.
